Belle Isle Bridesmaid

Monday, October 27, 2014

Happy Monday!

This past weekend, for the very first time in my life I got to be a bridesmaid. I was a bridesmaid for a longtime friend of mine who I've known for 14 years! She looked absolutely beautiful and she and her now husband seemed completely and utterly in love with each other.  The wedding ceremony was particularly special for me because it was the first traditional Bosnian wedding that I took part in.

For her photos, we went to Belle Isle, a cute little island located in the Detroit River between Detroit and Windsor. These are not any of her photos. For these photos, I went back on Sunday with my sister to shoot at the exact same location. While I've had this gown since September, I wanted to wait to take photos of it until after I wore it to her wedding. This dress is by Adrianna Papell, a designer whose dresses I absolutely love! I'm actually going to wear another Adrianna Papell dress for a wedding in which I'm the maid of honor, and it too is beautiful! I don't get many occasions to wear floor-length ball gowns, so when I tried on these dresses I felt super fancy! Hopefully, there will be many more occasions that I can wear this beautiful dress to.

Although everything passed by way too quickly this weekend, the photos we took will help keep the memories close to my heart.

Croatia

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

The last and only time I was ever in Croatia was when I was a baby before the war in Bosnia. The only reason I even know that I've ever been there is because my mom told me that we went once for vacation. I think most Eastern Europeans go to Croatia for their vacations, and I don't blame them, it's stunning!

With that being said, these are actually Dominik's photos from his travels to Croatia in the summer of 2012. I asked him to be a co-contributor to my blog since he travels a lot (without me haha), but since he dislikes writing, we settled on the agreement that I could share his inspiring photos with you guys instead. I want to spread the beauty from around the world, even if I have yet to see it with my own eyes! I've picked my favorite photos he took in Croatia to show you! I'd like to give a huge thank you to Dominik for allowing me to share his photography with the world. There's so much beauty he's seen that I want everyone to get to experience too. Thank you!

I also have other beautiful photos he took from his travels that I can't wait to share with you! But in the meantime, I hope you guys can take in the natural beauty that is Croatia!

P.S. If you have any questions about traveling to Croatia, just ask in the comment section, and I'll make sure to relate them back to Dominik and get back to you :)

Forever 21 Jacket, Sweater, Jeans (similar here) | H&M Booties

If I had several lifetimes, I would have a different career for each one. One of those careers would be an interior designer. Although I have never actually designed any interiors, I am obsessed with beautiful homes. I am an avid fan of all things HGTV, but my favorite show has to be Property Brothers because of the design aspect. I am always in awe of how amazing Jonathan makes the home look, no matter how hopeless it may seem. I would love to have Jonathan do his magic on my very own home! If he could also supply the home that'd be even better! :P

Anyway, here we are exploring downtown Ann Arbor once again. We stopped by one of my absolute favorite places in Ann Arbor, the Kaleidoscope book store. I love the look and feel of this place- I could literally spend hours upon hours discovering all the amazing books that are held there! I wouldn't be surprised if there's such a rare book or collectible that is worth thousands and the owner might not even know it! When I finally settle into one place, I plan on purchasing many books from this quaint little book shop!

As for what I'm wearing, once again I went with Forever 21 for a simple, laid-back, casual Friday kind of look (it was Friday when we took the photos after-all). I purchased all the clothes in store this season, but it can be somewhat frustrating finding the exact piece online. For instance, the jacket that I'm wearing is literally the same jacket as they have online except that the online version doesn't have the buckle around the sleeves like mine does (mine was also a bit pricier, I'm guessing as a result). But otherwise, they are the exact same jackets. Maybe they decided to change the design of the jacket  after the fact and I got one of the older versions.

Well, I've ranted on enough about things that are totally unrelated to each other - the way many of my conversations go as well. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I will be spending this weekend working and studying for two exams! Wish me luck!

Forever 21 Sweater, Coat, Skirt, Bag, and Earrings (don't have online, similar here) | Banana Republic Pumps

Happy middle of the week everyone!

It's been quite a while since I shopped at Forever 21. I've always felt that its clothes are targeted towards the younger crowd, but they actually have many pieces that are suited for the young twenty year olds. ;) My favorite piece is this plaid coat simply because I love the pattern, but it is fairly thin so I wouldn't recommend it if you want something that will actually keep you warm. As far as my least favorite item, I actually decided that I really don't like the purse! I really want a quilted bag, and I feel like the quilted look is pretty popular this season  (herehere, here, and here) , but this particular bag will be going back. They call it a "grey" color, but looking at it some more and from my pictures, it actually comes off more of a green shade, which I find really ugly. Other than my dislike of this current purse, Forever 21 is a great place to shop when you're a student on a tight budget. You can get some great pieces for a cheap price! If you're also a student, I bet you probably love Forever 21 too, right?

Into the Woods

H&M Jacket, Cowl-neck Sweater (which I wore as a dress, also similar here and here), Wedge Boots, Burgundy Bag | Swarovski Stud Earrings

It's that time of year for winter jackets. Winter is almost here but I refuse to acknowledge it. Another summer has gone by way too quickly, only to be replaced with several months of dreary skies. That's what I hate the most about winter. The constant cloud cover- you barely see the sun. Which is why I want to try to squeeze in some good outdoor time before winter kicks in. Winter, ugh. These pictures were taken at a park right next to my current apartments that I love going to for a run or hike, which has been rarely lately.

But there's one thing I'm happy about today, and that's TGIF!

Friday is here, which means there's only one more day of doing stuff I don't really want to do (hehe) before the weekend! This weekend I plan on catching up on some sleep, studying for midterms, and attending a friend's bachelorette party. What are your plans? I hope you guys also try to soak in the sun!

Go outside and enjoy some of the last warm weekends for months to come!

H&M Jacket (they call it jacket, I say blazer. only have dark gray online), Denim Shirt, Pants, Burgundy Bag | Banana Republic Pumps

Happy another Monday!

Everyone who knows me knows that I don't dress like this everyday, or every other day for that matter. I spend my days in scrubs, which is actually one of the perks of the job- wearing what are almost pajamas to work with hair tied back and minimal makeup. But in my ideal world, I'd be jet-setting across the globe in my most fashionable clothes on a weekly basis (what the top bloggers of the blogosphere do as their actual careers!). It's so beyond my wildest imagination to imagine what their lives are like traveling as often as they do. One of my favorite bloggers, Kayture, traveled for over a month straight from New York to Shanghai to New York to London to Milan to Paris (given it was for Fashion month, but nonetheless), a quick stop back to her native Switzerland, and finally now to California. This is my dream life- traveling non-stop with quick trips back home. But of course, what sort of career would allow for this? BLOGGING! Although I wholeheartedly realize it's exceedingly difficult to turn a blog into a career, it is possible after all, and that's what I'm after. This is just the beginning for me and I hope I can eventually, even if it takes some time, make it to that point. I hope I have your guys' support along the way! Stay tuned as I have much more to share!

P.S. These Banana shoes feel amazing on even after walking around in for over a hour, and not to mention completely remind me of my dream Valentino pumps, that are also currently available in this beautiful fall-ready deep red
